Impact windows installed ​since Hurricane Andrew ​devastated a huge swath south of Miami 25 years ago may get their first real-life test in South Florida during Hurricane Irma​’s trek.

“We had some experience with [Hurricane] Wilma but it was not as intensive as what we are expecting right now,” said Ralph Gonzalez, Broward County’s chief structural inspector overseeing unincorporated areas.
