Terry Stiles, the developer of numerous high-profile projects in South Florida, died after battling esophageal cancer.

Stiles, 70, formerly the head of the Fort Lauderdale-based Stiles Corp. founded by his father Howard in 1951, died Monday, the Sun Sentinel reported.

Stiles' company developed notable downtown Fort Lauderdale projects on Las Olas Boulevard, including the 1 West Las Olas office building and the Las Olas City Center, a retail and office project, according to its website.
