A motorist recovered $22,834 after his 2003 Porsche 911 Turbo X50 sports car was damaged in a rear-end crash.
On June 4, 2016, Scott Rogers was driving on Southern Boulevard in Palm Beach County when his Porsche was struck by Asnel Simon. Rogers claimed his sports car sustained minor structural and cosmetic damage, causing it to be in the repair shop for 13 weeks. He sought recovery for the diminished value of the car and its loss of use.
Defense counsel claimed Rogers' Porsche had already decreased in value due to an earlier crash and disputed the amount sought for loss of use. The jury awarded $20,000 for the diminished value and loss of use. The court then awarded an additional $2,834 for repairs not covered by Simon's insurance.
