Miami law firm Genovese Joblove & Battista helped fund the donation of a sculpture for Florida International University's veterans memorial, the firm announced Monday.

The sculpture of FIU alumnus and criminal justice major Paul Michael Felsberg, a U.S. Marine second lieutenant killed in Iraq in 2004, will be the centerpiece of the Felsberg Memorial Plaza. A model of the sculpture designed by Miller Legg will be unveiled at the Modesto Maidique Campus Saturday in honor of Veterans Day.

“A number of our lawyers and staff have served in the military, and we are passionate about supporting veteran programs,” said Jonathan Perlman, a Genovese Joblove shareholder who is also on the FIU Foundation's board of directors. “This was an ideal opportunity for us to show our immense gratitude to the men and women who have fought to protect our freedom, while supporting this wonderful initiative led by FIU and leaving a lasting impression of which we can all be proud.”

Firm shareholder John Genovese is an Army veteran who mentors attorneys who served in the military. Genovese Joblove and its attorneys help fund veterans' scholarships at the FIU College of Law, University of Miami School of Law, Ohio Northern University and Siena College.

The firm declined to reveal the amount of its donation. The other donor was Burt Cabañas, a member of the FIU Foundation's board of directors who founded the hospitality company Benchmark.
