PALM BEACH CIRCUIT COURT

A jury awarded $85,000 to a driver who was injured in a Lake Worth collision for his medical bills but refused to award compensatory damages.

In April 2016, Rudolph Hollingsworth, a landscaper in his mid-60s, was driving a pickup truck on Dixie Highway when the passenger's side of his truck was broadsided by a sedan driven by Kenneth Strasnick, who ran a red light. Hollingsworth claimed multiple spinal disc herniations and was treated with chiropractic care and physical therapy.

Strasnick conceded negligence but argued Hollingsworth's injuries were minor and had resolved. The jury awarded Hollingsworth past and future medical costs but agreed he had not suffered a permanent injury.
