The Miami-Dade Commission on Ethics & Public Trust has selected seven semifinalists to replace executive director Joseph Centorino, who is set to leave at the end of August.

In the running are Chief Assistant Miami-Dade State Attorney Jose Arrojo, attorney Kathryn Estevez, former Fort Lauderdale City Attorney Cynthia Everett, U.N. Alliance of Civilizations director Matthew Hodes, Senior Circuit Judge Judith Kreeger, Deputy Miami City Attorney Barnaby Min and Ethics Commission advocate Michael Murawski.

Ethics commissioners plan to conduct interviews in June and approve a contract with the chosen candidate by the group's July meeting.

The five-member commission is an independent agency with advisory and quasi-judicial powers to investigate complaints of public corruption and misdeeds.

Centorino has been the executive director since 2011 following 25 years at the Miami-Dade state attorney's office, mostly as chief of the public corruption division.
