Partygoers at E11even soon will be able to enjoy the adult entertainment in even more space at the Miami nightclub.

E11even, which hosts music artists and includes an upscale strip club, isn't adding to its building at 29 NE 11th St. Instead, it will enclose a rooftop bar and lounge with soundproof, opaque materials, an attorney for E11even said. A rooftop restaurant won't be affected.

The Miami Planning, Zoning and Appeals Board voted 6-2 on Wednesday to allow the change proposed by the club's owner. The club got the OK for a special exception to its nonconforming adult entertainment use to expand to part of the rooftop.

“We are bringing the whole nightlife experience up to the rooftop, which includes the adult-entertainment portion,” said Louis J. Terminello, a Greenspoon Marder partner and chair of its hospitality, alcohol and leisure industry group.

Terminello worked along with Greenspoon Marder senior counsel Joshua Remedios to represent E11even.

The rooftop bar and lounge will be closed during construction of the enclosure, which should be done in early December, Terminello said.

The change comes about a year after tensions flared when residents of a residential tower east of the nightclubs on Northeast 11th Street complained about noise from the venues.

Citiations were issued on Memorial Day weekend 2017, including two to E11even, Terminello said. Club Space and the defunct Heart Nightclub were in the same stretch.

“Let's face it. There was no way that we would pass the laugh test trying to move the nightlife venue on the rooftop in the middle of a noise issue without enclosing it with soundproof covering,” Terminello said. “I couldn't stand there and say, 'We want to move the nightlife venue to the roof in the middle of these controversies about having the noise issues.' “
