A jury found a homeowner was not to blame for a man’s fall from a ladder.

On Oct. 6, 2016, Jean Colimon, then 69, was helping install shutters on the windows at Jean Pierre’s home before Hurricane Matthew. To install the shutters, Colimon climbed a ladder, while Pierre held it at the bottom. When Colimon was about 10 feet above ground, he fell from the ladder and fractured his left elbow and a hip. Colimon claimed Pierre did not properly hold the ladder in place, causing it to be unstable and causing his fall.
