On Oct. 2, 2014, Kari Maynor, then 53, was driving east on West Sugarland Highway in Clewiston when a sport utility vehicle heading south on North Berner Road attempted to turn east in front of her, causing a collision. Maynor claimed tears of the right shoulder and wrist as well as bulging and protruding cervical discs. After the SUV driver’s insurer tendered the $50,000 policy limit, Maynor sought recovery from the underinsured-motorist provision of her policy with Geico General Insurance Co.

Geico agreed Maynor’s shoulder and wrist injuries were caused by the accident but denied causation for her neck and back injuries.
