ASSAULT

PALM BEACH CIRCUIT COURT

A hair stylist was awarded more than $1 million by a jury for injuries inflicted by a professional kickboxer outside a restaurant in Boca Raton.

In 2010, Vito Bucario, 55, was at the restaurant on Palmetto Park Road when a woman he knew walked in with the kickboxer, Thaddeus Pryor. After Pryor made a vulgar comment to the woman, the men argued and went outside. Pryor punched Bucario and knocked him down, then punched and kicked him multiple times. Bucario sued Pryor, who was not represented by counsel and was not at trial. Bucario was diagnosed with a concussion and a fracture of the left shin bone. He was bedridden for several months.

The jury ruled Pryor committed an assault or battery and awarded Bucario $1.17 million.
