These Florida Courts Will Close as Hurricane Michael Approaches State
The Florida Supreme Court has closed its doors ahead of Hurricane Michael, along with courthouses in 23 Florida counties.

The Florida Supreme Court has released a lengthy list of North Florida courthouses to close because of Hurricane Michael, which is expected to make landfall on Oct. 10.
The affected courts span 23 counties, and many are anticipated to close at noon today, Oct. 9, and remain closed through Oct. 10.
The Florida Supreme Court, the Fifth District Court of Appeal and the Office of the State Courts Administrator in Tallahassee have closed until Oct. 11, or until further notice.

As of press time, no orders to extend legal deadlines have been posted.
Follow the Florida courts' Twitter page to stay up to date, or check for updates at the Florida Supreme Court's website. An emergency hotline is also open for court staff and members of the public.
“Extended” power outages are expected to affect Tallahassee, according to state officials.
Check the National Hurricane Center website for updates on Hurricane Michael, which is currently a Category 2 hurricane in the Southeast Gulf of Mexico, and is forecasted to strike Florida as a Category 3. According to the National Hurricane Center, Michael is strengthening as it travels north-northwest across the Southeastern Gulf of Mexico.
