Lori Smith-Lalla has joined Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman in Fort Lauderdale as of counsel. Smith Lalla's practice focuses on affordable housing, community redevelopment agencies, municipal government law, public finance and special districts.
Ilana B. Olman of McIntosh Sawran & Cartaya in Fort Lauderdale has been promoted to partner.
Patyl A. Oflazian has joined Talenfeld Law in Fort Lauderdale as a senior associate. Oflazian's practice focuses on sexual abuse, wrongful death, foster care and disabled person's damages, civil rights, personal injury and child welfare litigation.
David W. A. Chee, Chelsey J. Clements and Ryan P. Forrest have joined Carlton Fields as associates. Chee's practice focuses on business litigation, including environmental law matters. Clements' practice focuses on civil litigation for business clients, primarily construction entities. Forrest's practice focuses on litigation and trials.

The case, filed Oct. 2 in Massachusetts District Court by the Brown Law Firm on behalf of Stephen Austen, accuses certain officers and directors of misleading investors in regard to Symbotic's potential for margin growth by failing to disclose that the company was not equipped to timely deploy its systems or manage expenses through project delays. The complaint was filed Sept. 4 in Connecticut District Court by attorney Robert M. Berke on behalf of former employee George Edward Steins, who was arrested and charged with employing an unregistered home improvement salesperson. The complaint alleges that had Sunrun informed the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection that the plaintiff's employment had ended in 2017 and that he no longer held Sunrun's home improvement contractor license, he would not have been hit with charges, which were dismissed in May 2024.
