Seven Florida candidates are on a list of 51 people renominated by President Donald Trump for seats on federal district and appellate courts.
The U.S. Senate was asked Tuesday to confirm Podhurst Orseck partner Roy Altman and Miami-Dade Circuit Judges Rodolfo “Rudy” Ruiz II and Rodney Smith for seats in the Southern District of Florida.
They were initially nominated last April, but that paperwork expired when the new congressional session began.
Four others from Florida are in line for two seats in the Middle District — Hillsborough Circuit Judge and former Carlton Fields partner Thomas Barber and Fifth District Court of Appeal Judge Wendy Berger — and two in the Northern District — First District Judge and former Hopping, Green, Sams & Smith attorney T. Kent Wetherell and First District judge and former state Solicitor General Allen Winsor.
The slate also includes picks for district courts in Georgia, New York, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia and nominees for the Second, Third, Ninth and D.C. circuits.
