The Florida Supreme Court scheduled a public reprimand for Miami-Dade County Court Judge Maria D. Ortiz at 9 a.m. March 6. The justices will admonish Ortiz for violating the Code of Judicial Conduct.

The reprimand stems from Tuesday's order from the high court, which took Ortiz off the bench for 90 days without pay after she accepted free hotel stays with her husband, a government official accused of accepting them as bribes.

Ortiz and the Judicial Qualifications Commission agreed to the sanctions in December 2018. In their agreement, Ortiz admitted that she failed to inquire about how her family had paid for hotel stays in Mexico, the Dominican Republic and Miami Beach.

Ortiz also agreed to pay a $5,000 fine and reimburse the JQC's costs of $377.45.
