Joshua M. Samek joined DLA Piper as a partner and co-chair of the Miami corporate practice, moving three blocks from Greenberg Traurig.

Samek focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, public and private securities offerings, transaction financing and general corporate and securities matters with an emphasis on life sciences, health care and financial technology.

He maintains a nationwide practice representing private equity funds and their portfolio companies, and regularly counsels public company boards and executives on securities reporting and corporate governance.

Joe Alexander, co-chair of the firm's global corporate and private equity practices and Southeast managing partner, said Samek's “extensive experience representing companies in both the public and private sectors will enhance our ability to provide sophisticated counsel in a wide range of M&A and private equity matters.”

“DLA Piper's global platform and breadth of knowledge across a number of sectors will be immensely beneficial to Josh's clients,” said Miami managing partner Joshua Kaye, managing partner of the firm's Miami office. “We are pleased to welcome him to the firm.”

Samek is the latest partner to join the Miami office, which added litigation partner Lida Rodriguez-Taseff last year from Duane Morris.
