Fox Rothschild partner Steven Zelkowitz has been promoted to managing partner of the firm's Miami office. He succeeds partner Joseph DeMaria, who held the title for five years.

“I'm very excited and humbled to take on this new role and appreciate the trust the firm has put in me to lead the Miami office and grow the Miami office,” Zelkowitz said.

In addition to his new role as head of the Miami office, Zelkowitz also serves as co-chairman of the firm's infrastructure and development industry practice. His practice involves complex real estate, land use and zoning matters for both public and private clients.

The promotion was not unexpected: Zelkowitz managed GrayRobinson's Miami office before he jumped to Fox Rothschild last August. At the time of his move, DeMaria indicated he was in line to assume the same position at Fox.

Firm chairman Mark Silow also noted that Zelkowitz will oversee more growth for the firm's South Florida office, which opened in 2013. More than a month after he joined, three other GrayRobinson partner's jumped over to Fox Rothschild.

“25 to 50 lawyers would seem to be a very good target to shoot for over time,” Silow told the Daily Business Review.
