PREMISES LIABILITY

BROWARD CIRCUIT COURT

The defense prevailed after a woman claimed she slipped and fell in a Walgreens store in Hollywood.

Lisa Marie Gomez claimed she slipped on water left behind by employees of a company that was cleaning the store's floor, causing injuries to her knees, neck and back.

The store's owner, Walgreens Family of Cos., and the floor-cleaning company, Dale-Lee Floor Service Inc., were granted summary judgment. The case continued against B&C Floor Service Co., which was directly contracted to provide floor-cleaning services.

B&C's counsel moved for a directed verdict, alleging Gomez failed to establish a dangerous condition existed or caused her fall, and the motion was granted.
