When speaking about their $24.5 million verdict in Broward Circuit Court on April 17, attorneys Daniel Harwin and Todd Michaels are both effusive in praising their client Rodolfo Vargas Chavez.

“I can’t tell you how many times Danny or I looked at each other and said, without hyperbole, ‘Rodolfo’s the most impressive man I’ve ever met,’ ” said Michaels, a partner with the Haggard Law Firm. The South Florida litigators represented Vargas in a wrongful death suit against Dr. Adolfo Gonzalez-Garcia and other defendants over the death of his wife, Lilia Torres. Torres bled to death July 22, 2015, after giving birth to Lilian Deylaza Vargas, her fourth child overall and her first with Vargas.
