Bankruptcy partner David Gay has left Berger Singerman to join Carlton Fields in Miami.

Gay focuses his practice on bankruptcy and creditors' rights, corporate reorganizations and restructurings, and commercial litigation. He represents debtors, creditors, financial institutions, trustees, and creditor committees in Chapter 11 reorganizations and Chapter 7 liquidations, as well as in fraudulent transfer actions, preference actions, and litigation against directors and officers.

“David adds great expertise and depth to our bankruptcy practice, particularly in the South Florida market,” Donald Kirk, chair of the firm's bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice, said in a statement. “His experience in creditors' representation and insolvency-related litigation makes him a vital part of our team.”

Gay stated that he was excited to be joining a firm with such a strong litigation and bankruptcy and creditors' rights practice, adding that he looks forward to “furthering the firm's renowned client service and national platform.”

Gay was elevated to partner at Berger in 2017, along with former Berger attorney Andrew Hinkes, who jumped to Carlton earlier this year.

Berger Singerman commented: “[We] wish David and Carlton Fields all the best.”
