Zumpano Patricios, a Coral Gables-based law firm, has opened an office in New York City that will be led by Wall Street litigator Michael Popok and named Zumpano Patricios & Popok.

Popok, who previously ran his own firm, will be office managing partner and will man the office alone for now. But two to five additional attorneys and staff could be added in the coming months, the firm said.

“It is the dream of so many firms to open an office in the world's most significant legal market,” firm co-founder and managing shareholder Joe Zumpano said in a statement. “For almost 17 years our firm has strived to realize that dream. It is here now, and we could not have chosen a better partner to lead the firm's New York City Office.”

Popok previously ran his own firm—Popok Law. Before that, he was managing director at financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald for four years and name partner at Florida firm Weiss Serota Helfman Cole & Bierman for over a decade. He focuses his practice on business, financial services and white-collar litigation. Popok has tried more than 45 cases to verdict in his three-decade career.

“The Zumpano Patricios business model, focused on delivering high-end, client-centric, creative high-value legal services, fills an important market need in Manhattan,” Popok said in a statement.

Zumpano Patricios was founded in 2002 and has offices in Miami, Chicago and Salt Lake City.
