The American Bar Association picked Chicago following an attorney protest letter opposing Atlanta as the host of its 2021 midyear meeting based on the adoption of a restrictive abortion law in Georgia.

ABA President Bob Carlson said Friday that the board decided picked Chicago, where the association is headquartered, “for economic reasons.” The meeting was originally scheduled to convene in Orlando, where the ABA previously met at Walt Disney World.
