PREMISES LIABILITY

BROWARD CIRCUIT COURT

A jury awarded $1.43 million to a woman who claimed she was kidnapped and assaulted by her husband because of a security lapse at her workplace.

Audrey Boistol was working at a Fort Lauderdale building May 6, 2016, when her husband entered the premises, bypassed security personnel and found her. Bostiol claimed he forced her to leave with him and assaulted her. She suffered a fractured nose and lacerations and contusions on her head and face. She had warned the building's security not to admit her husband.

Boistol sued multiple companies, but only the landlord and security company remained for jury deliberations. Her employer, Zimmerman Advertising LLC, had been released from the case earlier.
