MOTOR VEHICLE

MIAMI-DADE CIRCUIT COURT

A jury rejected a woman's claim that she suffered spinal injuries in a collision in South Miami in 2015.

Alejandra Rivas was a passenger in a car traveling south on Dixie Highway. While the driver was attempting a left turn onto Sunset Drive, a collision occurred with a northbound vehicle driven by Alicia Sandoval. Sandoval claimed she had a green light, and the other driver claimed she was turning on a green arrow.

The defense accident-reconstruction expert opined that an arrow signal would not have displayed when the opposite signal was green. The jury found Rivas did not prove a case of negligence against Sandoval.
