SEXUAL HARASSMENT
U.S. DISTRICT COURT, MIAMI
The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission settled with a private security and detective agency after the agency sued the company, alleging its chief executive officer sexually harassed an employee who was then terminated.
The EEOC claimed Asdel Vazquez, CEO of Blackwater Protection and Detective Agency LLC, asked the woman about her sexual orientation and told her that he wanted to have a threesome with her. The EEOC asserted Vazquez repeatedly asked the woman to spend time with him outside of work and she declined. Her position was then terminated, and she was told it was for budgetary reasons.
The parties settled for $35,000 prior to trial. Blackwater also agreed to create a policy to address sexual harassment.
