A retirement community settled with a fired employee who claimed she was fired after applying for a promotion because she failed to say she wouldn't get pregnant.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has settled with an upscale Sarasota retirement community that was accused of firing an employee after she would not guarantee she would not get pregnant during her employment.
The employee claimed she was encouraged to apply for the managerial position at The Glenridge on Palmer Ranch. but when she applied she was asked if she intended to have a child, ostensibly to discuss limitations on leave time. She claimed she was terminated without getting a chance to interview for the managerial position.
The defense denied the allegations but agreed to settle the case for $70,000.
