A team of lawyers who won a mulitmillion-dollar outcome for a famous wrestler is now leading a South Florida lawsuit with ties to New York and Beverly Hills.

Attorneys David Hayes, Kenneth Turkel and Shane Vogt of Bajo | Cuva | Cohen | Turkel in Tampa represent surgeon Simon Ourian, who claims he is the victim of a social media "smear campaign." Turkel and Vogt were members of the legal team that helped Terry Bollea, or Hulk Hogan, shut down Gawker Media with a $31 million settlement over its publication of his sex tape. They did not respond to a request for comment by deadline.

Their client is a cosmetic surgeon with a celebrity client list including Kim Kardashian West, Kylie Jenner, Lady Gaga and Katy Perry.

The Beverly Hills doctor has accused New York resident Melinda Farina and her cosmetic-surgery referral companies—the Beauty Broker Inc. and Integrated Aesthetics Consulting Inc.—of posting defamatory social media comments about him. Ourian's complaint claims the comments impugned his work, and accused him of unethical and illegal conduct "with complete disregard for the truth."

The defendant companies serve as referral network, matching clientele with surgical and dermatological specialists, and operator Farina has been featured on news segments by CBS, ABC and others, according to her website.

But Ourian alleges Farina used that network to steer clients toward doctors who have paid membership fees and to disparage those who haven't.

Farina did not respond to a request for comment, and no lawyer had entered an appearance on her behalf by press time.

The lawsuit claims The Beauty Broker published numerous false statements, including one that's pinned the top of its Twitter page, "so it is the first thing visitors see." As of Oct. 7, the statement is still pinned to the page, which has 11,700 followers. It accused Ourian of unethical conduct and adds the hashtag #ShameOnYou.

The Beauty Broker's Instagram account, which has 82,600 followers, allegedly posted a series of photos of a woman claiming to have received botched treatment and been "given the run around" by Ourian. The suit says that post was removed after a retraction demand, but not before accumulating more than 2,000 likes and 600 comments.

The defendants are also accused of posting comments accusing him of paying to remove bad reviews, and of posting a text message chain that falsely claimed Ourian edits his before-and-after shots using Photoshop.

"Dr. Ourian does not engage in deceptive conduct of any sort. He is not unethical, he has not engaged in slander, and he is at the top of his profession when it comes to his ability," the lawsuit said.

Though neither of the parties live in Florida, the lawsuit claims many of the incidents happened in the state, where The Beauty Broker has a Miami office.
