MEDICAL MALPRACTICE

BROWARD CIRCUIT COURT

The estate of a 46-year-old father reached a settlement amounting to more than $3.8 million after he suffered a fatal heart attack.

Erick Moran, who died in September 2017, had a history of coronary artery disease. His widow sued the medical providers, claiming their negligence led to her husband's death. The lawsuit alleged his heart attack was caused by inappropriately prescribed medication, such as testosterone, and poor communication among the doctors, a physician's assistant and clinics that treated him.

Moran left behind his wife, a 6-year-old son and a 13-year-old stepson. The parties negotiated pretrial settlements that amounted to $3.85 million.
