MOTOR VEHICLE

MIAMI-DADE CIRCUIT COURT

A jury awarded more than $35,000 to a motorist who claimed he was run over by a Miami-Dade police officer during a May 2013 traffic stop.

Terrence Frazier claimed that he got out of his vehicle after being pulled over, but the officer kept driving and struck him.

The defense claimed Frazier's vehicle was still moving when he got out, leading to Frazier being struck by his own vehicle. The jury found each side at fault and assigned Frazier 80 percent of the blame.

Frazier, who required surgeries to repair two broken ankles, netted $35,509 after the reduction for shared liability on a $177,544 verdict.
