Florida Bar President-Elect Candidates to Face Off in March
Five board of governors seats will also have contested elections.

Jacksonville-based Michael Tanner and Ocala attorney Renee Thompson will face off in a March race that will decide the next president-elect of the Florida Bar.
Thompson is a civil litigator and mediator at Upchurch Watson White & Max. She chairs the bar's technology committee and has represented the Fifth Circuit on the Board of Governors since 2013. Tanner is a business litigation partner at Gunster who sits on the Board of Governors representing Duval County.
Five board of governors seats will also have contested elections:
- Escambia County: Clark Partington shareholder Jeremy Branning and Pensacola-based public defender Ryan Lane Morrow.
- Orange County: Shutts and Bowen partner Michael Sjuggerud and Orlando-based solo practitioner Tad Allen Yates.
- Broward County, Seat 1: law blogger William Gelin and Kim Vaughan Lerner managing partner Jay Kim
- Broward County, Seat 4: Fort Lauderdale-based solo practitioner Hilary Creary and Miramar-based solo Christina McKinnon.
Ballots for contested elections will be emailed or mailed to eligible voters by March 2, 2020. Votes must be received by midnight March 23. The bar is expected to announce results March 24. Any runoff elections will be conducted between April 1 and April 22, 2020. New terms will begin June 19, 2020.

- Tenth Circuit, Seat 1: C. Richard Nail, Lakeland
- Eleventh Circuit, Seat 1: Roland Sanchez-Medina, Coral Gables
- Eleventh Circuit, Seat 3: Jordan Dresnick, South Miami
- Eleventh Circuit, Seat 5: Jeffrey Rynor, Miami Beach
- Thirteenth Circuit, Seat 4: Paige Greenlee, Tampa
- Fourteenth Circuit, Seat 1: Clifford Higby, Panama City
- Fifteenth Circuit, Seat 1: Rosalyn Sia Baker-Barnes, West Palm Beach
- Fifteenth Circuit, Seat 3: Robin Bresky, Boca Raton
- Eighteenth Circuit, Seat 1: James Vickaryous, Lake Mary
- Twentieth Circuit, Seat 1: Laird Lile, Naples
- Out-of-State, Seat 2: Ian Comisky, Philadelphia

The suit, filed Dec. 11 in New York Southern District Court by Bleichmar Fonti & Auld, accuses the defendants of concealing the bank's 'pervasive' deficiencies in regards to its compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and the quality of its anti-money laundering controls.
