MOTOR VEHICLE

MIAMI-DADE CIRCUIT COURT

A man who claimed knee and shoulder injuries following a rear-end collision was awarded $30,000 at trial.

Angel Montero's sport utility vehicle was rear-ended when another driver, Raul Corzo, slid on wet pavement while attempting to stop behind Montero. He claimed the impact pushed his SUV off Southwest 137th Avenue near 68th Street and it struck a tree. Montero, 52, sued both Raul Corzo and Marianeca Corzo, who owned the pickup truck Raul was driving.

Liability was conceded by the Corzos, but they disputed the tree strike. They also disputed injury causation and damages. The jury award covered past pain and suffering.
