LABOR AND EMPLOYMENT

PALM BEACH CIRCUIT COURT

A jury awarded more than $300,000 to a real estate agent who alleged age discrimination after he was fired by his company after about 20 years.

Peter Chinnock, who was 71 when he was dismissed in September 2015, claimed he lost his job after filing state and federal age-discrimination complaints. He sued the company alleging age discrimination, retaliation and breach of contract.

The defense argued Chinook wasn't productive, but plaintiffs counsel noted Chinnock closed a $2.2 million deal a month before his termination. The jury award totaled $334,778.
