PREMISES LIABILITY

BROWARD CIRCUIT COURT

A jury ruled for a nightclub sued by a singer who fell while performing at the Cloud 9 Lounge in Hollywood.

Aliyah Hassan claimed the stage was open to bar patrons before her performance and she slipped on liquid spilled by one of the patrons. Hassan claimed she tore knee ligaments and required surgery, forcing her to take a lengthy break from her career.

Defense counsel claimed the stage was dry and Hassan simply fell while dancing during her performance. The jury found no negligence.
