Former Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi stepped into the Senate chambers and into the impeachment trial spotlight Monday.
Speaking as a member of President Donald Trump's defense team, Bondi directed her line of attack at Vice President Joe Biden and son Hunter over Hunter Biden's ties to Ukraine, according to NBC News.
Her defense of fellow Floridian Trump—accused by House Democrats of abuse of power—landed Bondi atop the list of what's trending on Twitter in the United States on Monday evening. Following her at No. 2 were Ken Starr, who also finds himself a player in the impeachment proceedings, and #PeopleForBernie at No. 3.
Bondi's participation on Trump's team drew criticism on Twitter, though she was not without supporters.
Pam Bondi reminds you that what the Death Star actually did is completely irrelevant compared to the corruption on Alderaan.

Bondi previously rejected assertions that a $25,000 political contribution from Trump, prior to his election, influenced her office in 2013 to dismiss allegations dealing with Trump University.
Bondi, a Republican, served as Florida attorney general from 2011 to 2019. Since entering Trump's orbit in Washington, she had kept a fairly low profile by D.C. standards. She had been in the news lately for her professional relationship with Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner and when she made the starting lineup of Trump's impeachment defense team alongside a couple other high profile lawyers.
