A veteran observer of judicial investitures said it wasn't a real investiture without tears. In the case of Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Gina Beovides, she was the one in tears during remarks at her ceremony. She joined the county court bench in 2016 and was appointed to the circuit bench in August to replace Judge Monica Gordo, who was elevated to the Third District Court of Appeal. Before Beovides became a judge at 34, she spent a decade working as a senior staff attorney with Dade Legal Aid, served as a Miami-Dade traffic hearing officer and worked at the Law Offices of Leon A. Brunet. Beovides has been assigned to the criminal division.
