Holland & Knight partner Emil Infante has jumped to Polsinelli as shareholder where he will lead the firm's first-ever Latin America practice group.

Infante has experience advising Latin American businesses on multiple fronts, including corporate transactions, arbitration and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and anti-money laundering regulations. He mostly represents Latin American families who are looking to invest in the region or in the U.S.

Polsinelli's Latin America practice consists of Infante and shareholder Milton Vescovacci. The firm is a new entrant in a relatively-crowded space: Baker McKenzie and Morrison Foerster both established their own Miami-based Latin America practices in the past year. Florida-based law firms such as Greenberg Traurig and Holland & Knight have long worked in the space.

"Emil has deep experience in LatAm matters; we are confident in his ability to create and build our LatAm practice from the ground up, a unique opportunity that we know he looks forward to and will embrace," said Polsinelli corporate and transactional practice chair Jonathan Henderson in a statement.

This is not the first Big Law move for Infante. In 2014, he left Foley & Lardner to join DLA Piper's corporate and finance practice in Miami.

Polsinelli opened its Miami office in February of last year with five shareholders and one associate from GrayRobinson and Akerman. The office grew again in August with the hire of Bilzin Sumberg Baena Price & Axelrod real estate partner Stacia Wells.

In a statement, Holland & Knight said that it wished Infante well.
