In a new emergency order Thursday, Florida Supreme Court Chief Justice Charles Canady reinstated deadlines and time periods for some — but not all — cases involving Florida Bar regulations.

Replacing a March 20 ruling that stopped the clock until further notice, Canady reinstated   deadlines for most cases involving chapters 3 to 10 of the Rules Regulating The Florida Bar. These include attorney discipline cases, regulation of the unlicensed practice of law and investigations into lawyer advertising.

Deadlines won't, however, be reinstated if they expired during the suspension, or if they are due to expire in the next seven days. For those cases, deadlines will extend to April 24.

But not everything is back on track.

For cases involving Bar Rule 3-7.16, which governs limitation on time to open investigation, and 4-7.19, which governs filing and evaluation requirements for attorney advertisements,  deadlines are suspended until May 29.

Canady wrote that he will issue additional updates depending on how events transpire.
