In a cautionary tale about attorney referrals, a South Florida lawyer says he’s invested the equivalent of $700,000 worth of legal services in a dispute over $100,000.

But bad news for that lawyer, Richard J. Diaz of Coral Gables: Florida’s Third District Court of Appeal on Wednesday denied him additional attorney fees for ongoing litigation that he plans to appeal before the Florida Supreme Court.
