A father who went searching for his son when the boy and a friend disappeared at sea has been absolved of liability over their presumed deaths, under a Florida law governing negligence scenarios.

It was a nightmare for four Tequesta parents that grabbed global headlines in July 2015, when 14-year-olds Perry Cohen and Austin Stephanos set sail on a fishing trip through the Jupiter Inlet, shortly before a storm hit. And it still hasn’t ended, as the teens have never been found.
