Ahead of a runoff election for a seat on the Broward Circuit bench, incumbent Judge Dennis Bailey and Fort Lauderdale litigator George Odom Jr. made their case to voters in a live Q&A session with the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association and the League of Women Voters on Tuesday night.

Gwen S. Cherry's vice president Kadisha Phelps led the discussion, probing candidates on sentencing, youth crime, pro se litigants, bias against female lawyers and other issues.

Bailey spent 14 years as a prosecutor and defense attorney, and 14 years as a civil attorney handling cases across the state before he was elected to his post in 2014. He said his life and legal experience mean he can identify with litigants.
