A lawsuit over a deadly truck accident—that could trigger a litigation rule change—Thursday came before the Florida Supreme Court, which pondered whether summary judgments should be easier to obtain in civil cases.

It’s a case the Fifth District Court of Appeal flagged as being of great public importance, after one party argued the litigation would be speedier and simpler under the federal Celotex standard for civil claims — something most states have already adopted.
