A federal appeals court has ruled in favor of one of the leading American technology and media services providers, finding that one of its shows did not infringe the copyright of a Colombian journalist who wrote a memoir about her affair with drug kingpin Pablo Escobar and the rise of the Colombian drug trade.

While Netflix ultimately prevailed in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, Mark Stein, an Aventura attorney, said these types of cases would only increase with the oversaturation of online streaming services. These subscriptions have steadily increased over the years to 60% of all Americans, according to Statista.
