Florida will need 13 extra judges to weather the next fiscal year, according to the Florida Supreme Court's annual opinion to the legislature released Thursday, which said the COVID-19 pandemic has placed "extraordinary strains" on trial courts.
It's a request that suggests Florida's quick pivot to remote work has allowed its courts to cling on, but won't be enough to get a handle on the influx of filings and trials expected when operations return to normal.
