A Miami lawyer led a small team that scored about $150,000 in attorney fees after reaching a settlement with the Florida Department of Corrections in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida on behalf of thousands of prisoners.

Dante Trevisani, an attorney at the Florida Justice Institute, said to reach the estimated $11 million settlement for digital credits with the nation’s third-largest prison system, his team had to overcome untested legal issues, which meant they had no blueprint in the litigation.
