Several activists equipped with Black Lives Matter signs while protesting outside the home of the Proud Boys chairman slapped eight Miami-Dade police officers with a lawsuit in federal court, claiming a violation of their First and Fourth Amendment rights.

And Melba Pearson, a former senior prosecutor with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and a director of the Florida International University center for the administration of justice, said the takeaway is that this lawsuit should lead to more robust policy with regard to how police officers interact with protestors.
