A South Florida lawyer who was handcuffed and charged with direct criminal contempt for disruptive behavior while defending a client secured a U-turn at the Fourth District Court of Appeal, which reversed the contempt order.

It’s a case that exemplifies the importance of sticking to procedure even if things get unruly, as the appellate court found the attorney in this case was improperly taken into custody before having a contempt hearing.
