A high-stakes race in the Broward Circuit Court pits a well-known dealership against a customer who is relying upon a rarely cited Florida law in alleging inflated labor costs in car service.

Cristina Pierson, an attorney at Kelley | Uustal in Fort Lauderdale, represents the class leader, Ronald E. Lichtman, against Palm Beach Imports Inc., also known as Braman Motorcars. Pierson said if she prevailed in this case under the Florida Motor Vehicle Repair Act, it could become a blueprint for legal action in the Sunshine State.
