Newly built homes could soon become more affordable for families seeking to buy in Florida, as a new bill that aims to cap impact fee increases has passed the Senate and Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to sign it into law. 

Impact fees are a one-time fee assessed to either developers or builders for new homes, including townhouses, apartments and condominiums, as well as new commercial developments. The fees help pay for increased infrastructure demands created by new growth.
