For the second year in a row, specialized law firms grew fastest in the Daily Business Review's annual Review 100 survey, which uses National Law Journal 500 data to identify and rank the state's top 100 law firms by Florida-based attorney head count. Many firms benefited from the ongoing population migration to Florida while out-of-state Am Law 100 and Am Law 200 firms also expanded in the Sunshine State.

Overall, the state's top 100 law firms added 207 attorneys in 2020, growing by an average of 3.2% per firm and falling short of the 373-lawyer aggregate growth of 2019.

Most of the Florida-based Am Law 100 and Am Law 200 firms were flat or slightly down on head count. Greenberg Traurig, Holland & Knight and GrayRobinson each shed 2-3% of their Florida attorneys. Carlton Fields fared slightly worse, losing 4%, and Greenspoon Marder lost 10% of its Florida legal talent after a series of pandemic-related layoffs. Shutts & Bowen and Akerman were mostly flat.
