Several Am Law 100 firms were getting ready to announce hybrid working policies for attorneys and staff when, on July 16, Law.com surfaced a letter in which Morgan Stanley CLO Eric Grossman told his bank’s outside counsel that the legal profession “cannot long endure a remote work model.”

According to Grossman, in-person work is crucial for training young lawyers and delivering excellent service. “Critical meetings,” Grossman said, should not be handled remotely.
