Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison spoke at the University of Miami School of Law about the successful prosecution he led against Derek Chauvin, a former Minneapolis police officer, for the murder of George Floyd.

Before Ellison took the stage to speak in front of an audience of about 75 socially distanced and masked people and a live-streamed audience, he spoke privately in a university green room. He said that while the legal community is as diverse as the rest of society, lawyers have a unique role because chaos begins when the law ends.
